Trailers and clips
Disney has released a few trailers heading up to Frozen 2, the latest on September 23, 2019. A teaser showing Elsa battling violent waves, released in February 2019, became the most viewed animated trailer of all time within 24 hours.
A clip for the film came out in April during a presentation for the Disney Plus streaming video service. It showed Anna kneeling in front of Olaf, who says, “I don’t think Elsa’s OK.” The clip also features a voice-over of a troll saying, “You must find the truth.”
Disney also shared new footage of Frozen 2 at its D23 event in Anaheim, California, in August, as well as a new song. It was also revealed that Sterling K. Brown and Evan Rachel Wood will be joining the cast as Lieutenant Matthias and Queen Iduna (Anna and Elsa’s mom), respectively.
In the official trailer released Sept. 23, Elsa must follow a voice that’s calling to her to save Arendelle. She’s joined by Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven as they venture into an enchanted forest. At the beginning of the trailer, we see a flashback of Anna and Elsa’s dad sharing a story about that forest, which he describes as “a magical place, but something went wrong. from then onwards, no one can get in or out.”
Disney also released a clip on Sept. 30 featuring fresh footage of the gang’s venture into the enchanted lands, along with a snippet of a new song called Into the Unknown. In addition, the studio launched preorders for the Frozen 2 soundtrack, which features tracks sung by actors including Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff. It includes end-credit songs performed by Panic At The Disco, Kacey Musgraves and Weezer. The soundtrack is set for a Nov. 15 release.

We don’t know much about the plot just yet, but there have been rumors and speculation circling the film since it was announced in 2015.
One of the most popular rumors is that Elsa will be getting a female love interest — something that’s drawn commentary from cast and crew. Idina Menzel said in a 2016 interview that the move would be great, and that she’d support the decision “no matter what.” Director Jennifer Lee said last year there were “tons of conversations” about whether Elsa would have girlfriend, adding, “Let’s for the best and We’ll see where it goes.”
Speculation about the relationship stemmed in part from fans saying Let It Go, the Oscar-winning song from Frozen, is an LGBT+ anthem because of lyrics like “Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I’ve tried” and “Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know.” But songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez told IGN at D23 that Elsa won’t have a love interest in the film, saying that “Like the first movie, In Frozen 2 Elsa is not just defined by a romantic interest.”
We also may get to know more about Anna, Elsa and their parents. Lee has said she “spent time writing these journals as the girls” to better understand them, and Anderson-Lopez said in an interview last year that after working on the Broadway version of Frozen, “we know the parents a lot better.”
Kristen Bell has said the movie will feature “a couple new characters that you will fall in love with.”
A trailer for the film shows two young characters, who some Twitter users have speculated are Anna and Kristoff’s children.
